Remember to bring in your change for the All for Books Coin Challenge tomorrow! The class that collects the most money will get to spend $100 on new books for their classroom at the book fair! This Friday afternoon students will celebrate Winterfest. Students will get to go to 2 different activities. Some are outside activities and some are inside activities. We are still looking for parent volunteers to help make this fun event a success. Please click the link below if you can help us out. There will be a staff member at each of the events as well.
The fun doesn't stop after school this Friday! From 6-8pm the PTG is hosting a Winterfest Kickoff Celebration in the cafeteria. The cost is $5. There will be music, refreshments, fun and more. Please join us for a really great time! Let's bring the trophy back to our class! We were the winners of this years first box tops challenge, but we haven't won since. Please remember to clip your box tops and send them in. The deadline for the February challenge is this coming Friday - February 12th!This past Friday a quartet named Ah! Cappella performed for our Elementary School. Using just their voices they took us on quite a journey including some VERY EARLY hip hop! Everyone had a great time and we all joined in to sing the Vermont State Song and Take Me Out to the Ballgame!
Some traditions are just too good to stop! I think this was THE favorite 100th day activity last year, so I brought it back this year with a First Grade twist. Instead of just telling me the number (tens and ones) on your Hershey Kiss, this year you had to find two at a time and compare the numbers using "greater than" or "less than". I was such an expert hider this year that we ran out of time to find the final three before the end of the day! Don't worry though - they came right in the next morning and got to work on finding them.
We did some fun writing today that included the number 100. Do you ever feel like you tell your child the same thing over and over again? Well, guess what? They're listening!
