This past Friday we tried something new to help us track print and read word for word. We now have these really cool finger flashlights! On Fridays we will shut off the lights during our Read to Self time and use them to help us become better readers who read with accuracy. Ask your Kinder how much they love this new addition!

How do Arctic Animals Stay Warm?

1/22/2017

We've been learning about the Arctic and the animals that live there. We discussed how we keep warm when it's cold and then asked how animals keep warm in such a cold habitat?! We put our scientist hats on and conducted an experiment to see if blubber really helps keep animals warm. We even made a hypothesis before conducting our experiment and then recorded our results. Be sure to ask your Kinder if the blubber helped keep their hand warm in our freezing, icy, Arctic water.

We had an AWESOME time at Kingdom Gymnastics.  Everyone was brave and willing to try new things while cheering each other on.  Such a fun field trip!  We can't wait to go back!

December Fun

Wow.  This post is long overdue - my apologies! December was full of fun in Kindergarten.  We packed a lot into those few weeks before break.  Tarah Fontaine taught us how to make cupcake ornaments and we celebrated the Holiday season by having secret gingerbread friends.  Each Kinder secretly drew a name of another Kinder and they had to try really hard to keep it a secret for 3 weeks! Once each week Kinders did something kind and generous for their secret gingerbread friend.  They made compliment presents for each other, designed meaningful bead bracelets where each color represented something specific about the kind of person they are, and lastly they revealed theselves to each other by giving away the gingerbread houses they made for each other.  Each KInder was so thoughtful, kind, generous, and appreciative! I also want to give a huge shout out to all the parent and grandparent volunteers who came in to help us pull off these awesome activities as well as to those who sent in the items we needed - We couldn't do it without you!  I hope your New Year is off to an amazing start!
