I believe I've somewhat successfully linked our blog with a class Facebook page to make it even easier to see what's happening in our room. Unfortunately it seems I'm unable to invite anyone I'm not friends with on my personal page. So...I'm hoping by sharing the link below you'll be able to access and like/follow us. Cross your fingers! And if it doesn't work, please let me know and I'll keep working on it.

We've begun settling into our Literacy routine here in Kindergarten and we are very excited to share it with you! Please see the letter below (also in your child's folder) explaining what the Daily 5 is all about. Pictures below show us working hard in the first two literacy choices we've launched in our room (Read to Self and Work on Writing). These Kinders are such eager learners who approach everything with enthusiasm! Be sure to ask your child about the Daily 5. Last call for book orders! I'll be placing our class order after school tomorrow. If you would like to order books please either send in your form and payment tomorrow or order online by clicking the link below! Our class code: ND3VGEvery month the Elementary School holds a Community Meeting. During these community meetings we all gather in the cafeteria where we will see some student performances, find out about upcoming events and celebrate birthdays and learning around the school. Family members are welcomed and encouraged to attend! If you'd like to come, just sign in at the office and head up to the cafeteria to find a spot. Each community meeting is also celebrated with a theme for the day. Our next community meeting is this Thursday, September 29th at 1:55 and the theme is - Wear your favorite t-shirt day!
Remember - tomorrow is picture day! We will have our pictures taken early tomorrow morning before we leave for our field trip. Please remember to send in your form and payment if you are ordering pictures. Every child will have their individual picture taken as well as a whole class photo regardless of whether or not you choose to order any. I look forward to seeing all their smiling faces! The first Scholastic Book Order of the year came home today in your child's green folder! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this - this is a great way to get some awesome books at really low prices (some books are only $1). I sent several flyers home today and you can order from any of them as well as any other flyers available by going online. There are literally thousands of books to choose from. The easiest way to place an order is by going online. When you go online you will need to enter our class code (ND3VG) - this way I am notified of your order and it can be shipped for free to me here at school. This also lets our class earn points that we can cash in for free stuff for our classroom! When the order comes in I will send it home with your child. If your order is a surprise and you'd rather your child not know about it just let me know in advance and I will keep it a secret and we can get it to you another way. If you are unable to order online you can send the forms along with your method of payment back to school via your child's green folder and I will gladly place the order for you. We also have a class wishlist of books that can also be accessed by going online. If you have any questions just shoot me an email - I'm always happy to help!
Happy Book Shopping!
We had an AMAZING (pun intended) day at the Great Vermont Corn Maze today! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day or better chaperones to join us. Thank You to everyone who helped make this field trip possible!
Our field trip to the Great Vermont Corn Maze is this Thursday! Please be sure your child is dressed in weather appropriate clothes and comfortable walking shoes such as sneakers. Unless you ordered a bagged lunch from the cafeteria you will also need to pack a lunch for your Kinder. We will still have snack at school in the morning, so all Kinders will need a snack as well.
We are asking that chaperones meet us at The Maze at 11:00am. We're looking forward to having a fabulous first trip of the year! This week we opened some new literacy choices in our classroom - including iPads, computers and our listening center! Kinders were able to practice their letter identification and formation as well as some name recognition and spelling of their names as well as classmates names. These guys are getting so comfortable with making different choices and staying on task until it's time to make a new choice. I'm so proud of them!
