April is Poetry month and we were lucky enough to spend some time with Ted Scheu the Poetry Guy this morning. The PTG brought him in to help kids learn about and explore poetry in fun ways. We all worked together to create an awesome poem "Can You Imagine?"

Yesterday we took a field trip to the Fairbanks Museum to learn all about flowers - specifically, how flowers work.  Kindergartners were surprised to learn that flowers have a purpose other than to smell nice and look pretty.  They were quite shocked to learn that we actually eat food that comes from flowers. We even got a chance to pretend to be flowers and bees to simulate how pollination works.  This was a great way to kick start our next Science unit - all about growing plants!
