This is our FAVORITE Thanksgiving story! Please ask your Kinder to tell you all about it. In honor of Thanksgiving, and the turkey in this story, our class will have a special Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 26th. We will be making homemade english muffin pizzas and eating together in our classroom. If your Kinder does not eat pizza, you may choose to either send in a lunch for them, or they may get a sandwich from the cafeteria. If you are able to contribute to the ingredients for our feast please click the link below to sign up.

So far this year our math focus has been on working with numbers 0-10. Before we move on to our next unit (Geometry), we had some fun with a mystery number museum. Each Kinder was given a mystery number they had to represent in many different ways. Once everyone set up their exhibit we took a tour of the museum to see if we could figure out each Kinder's mystery number. Ask your Kinder what their mystery number was!
On Monday we practiced writing in shaving cream! We've been working hard to write our letters correctly and fluently. So far we've focused on Cc, Oo, and Gg. These letters all begin in the same way. I've included a letter formation guide under the "links for learning" tab. This will show you the way we form our letters here at school. Helping your Kinder practice writing their letters this way is a great way to support what we're doing here at school. You can write on paper, in shaving cream, gel baggies, sand, rice, etc. Writing can be fun!
Whether we want it to or not, Winter is here! Today we made books to show how we get dressed for playing outside in the Winter. These are GREAT things to practice at home. Kinders need to be able to independently dress themselves for recess, so letting them do it at home will only help them get better. We get dressed in the following order: ski pants, boots, coat, hat/scarf/neck warmer, mittens. Please be sure to send your Kinder to school with their Winter gear every day. If you have an extra set of ski pants at home and wish to leave a pair here, please do. Also, your Kinder can leave their sneakers here at school too and just wear their boots back and forth. Now, let's see if we're this happy about the snow when it's still here in April.
Please join your Kinder for a traditional Thanksgiving Lunch on Friday, November 15th at 11:00 in the cafeteria. Cost is $5 for adults and non students. Our Literacy Parade was a success! We love our Superkid, Oswald, and his odd animals so much that we decided to make our own book of odd animals. Kinders used their imaginations to create some of the cutest odd animals I've even seen. Thanks for supporting our love of literacy! Today was the perfect windy day for Meteorologist Mark Breen from the Fairbanks Museum to come talk to us about weather! He drew pictures and divided us into groups to show how the wind, temperature, and moisture in different places can help us predict the weather coming our way. Ask your Kinder what group they were in, and what happened when the cold and warm air came together to squeeze the clouds.
