We’ve been working really hard on our numeracy skills and understanding and working with numbers up to 10 so today we celebrated our learning with a Mystery Number Museum! Each Kinder had a mystery number that they had to represent in as many different ways as possible. Then we travelled around the Museum and used our skills to determine each of the numbers. Ask your Kinder to show you all the different ways s/he can represent numbers!

It's that time of year! Please remember to send your Kinder to school each day with appropriate Vermont Winter gear: Coats, Ski Pants, Boots, Hats, Mittens, Scarves - and anything else to keep them warm. It is also very important to remember to send them with different shoes to wear inside the building. If it's easier for you, you are welcome to leave an extra pair of sneakers here at school. Please send in your "I'm Thankful For" turkey feathers so we can add them to our bulletin board.
Your Kinder has likely shared with you the difficulties we’ve had with the fish habitat in our classroom. 😔 Our first goldfish only lasted a few days, and then our next two only lasted a few hours! We knew there had to be something wrong with their environment, so with the help of a local pet store we determined it was likely due to the high pH levels in the water, and the fact that goldfish are really dirty fish! So, last Thursday we started over with all new rocks, plants, Spring water, and fish (plattys this time) in our tank. So far - we seem to be in good shape, and we are happy to introduce you to Jack and Sally! Be sure to ask your Kinder about Sally’s crazy acrobatics this morning. We were all amazed/shocked/surprised when she jumped right out of the tank when we went to feed her!
Last week we got to visit the Fairbanks Museum to learn even more about animal habitats and the animals who choose to make their home here in Vermont. We discussed why certain animals choose specific places for their habitats, and we even got a chance to touch some animal furs!
Our Literacy parade was a huge hit on Tuesday! We all had so much fun celebrating and sharing some of our favorite books with you. In the afternoon Kinders got a chance to watch the movie Horton Hears a Who and we compared it to the book to talk about similarities, differences, characters, setting, and events.
