Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 15th is our annual Winter Concert! I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing the wonderful performances. The concert starts at 6pm. Please bring your child to our classroom at 5:45 - I will be there with them and you will be free to go and get yourselves some seats for the show. Then, just before 6 we will go to the gymnasium as a class. During the concert we will sit together as a class. When the concert is over I ask that you please pick your child up from me, in our classroom. Things can get very busy and confusing when everyone starts moving around the gym and it can be difficult for me to see where everyone is going and who they're going with. While very fancy attire is not required, it is expected that students will dress up if possible - no jeans or t-shirts please. I'm looking forward to seeing you all. Enjoy the show!

On Wednesday, December 16th our class will work with our Big Pals to decorate gingerbread houses! We are looking for donations of all sorts of goodies to help make this fun, holiday event a success. The link to our SignUp Genius is below. Please don't limit yourselves to the items listed there - they are just suggestions. Feel free to send in any additional goodies you think might be good for our project. We will be making approximately 30 gingerbread houses. Thank You!
These lovely boots were left on the shelf at the end of the day and no one in our class would claim them. Do these boots belong to your child? Email me to let me know if they do. Otherwise I will put them in the lost and found.
Firsties have been hard at work learning how to write narratives. We've worked on making our narratives interesting to read by giving them: an interesting hook in the beginning, transition words and details in the middle, and powerful endings. I am truly blown away by the amazing authors we have! Today we got together with Mrs. Remick's class and we celebrated our hard work by sharing our narratives that we created based on puppets we made. Congratulations Firsties - You are Incredible!
On Tuesday we visited the Montshire Museum of Science. Firsties spent time exploring the museum in small groups and then we got a chance to visit their Star Lab! This was a great way to kick of our study of Space and the Night Sky. While in the Star Lab we got to see what the night sky looks like at different times, find some constellations, learn how to find the North Star, and more. It was a fantastic day of fun and exploration with science. Check out our video below to see some of the fun we had. (Don't forget to use your free visit pass!)
Hip, hip, hooray! It's December and that means it's time for Gingy to visit our classroom. Everyone had so much fun with this last year that I knew we had to do it again. In case you don't remember, or if this is new to you, here's how it works: Each night one Firstie will get to bring Gingy home! They will also bring home a special paper where they will write a narrative telling us all about their adventures with Gingy that night. Your Firstie should be the one doing the writing - not you! These Firsties know all about narratives and what they need (interesting beginnings to hook their readers, transition words and details in the middle, and powerful endings). Then, the very next day Gingy and their narrative need to come back to school. December is a very short month here at school and in order for this to work and for everyone to get a turn with Gingy it is critical that he returns to school the very next day. Thanks in advance for your help in making this fun writing project a success. I can't wait to read all about Gingy and his exciting adventures! |
