Today's Literacy Parade was a huge success! Thank you so much for braving the hurricane like winds and coming out to watch. The Firsties had a wonderful time showing off their character capes. They even wore them the rest of the day. We will continue to learn about characters, their traits, and making connections with them. Encourage your Firstie to talk about these things with you while reading.
This week had some Halloween fun in Science. We learned about skeletons and different kinds of creatures who have skeletons. Then we really got to have some fun and we created our own skeletons. These look fabulous hanging in our hallway!
Each month at our Community Meetings, students are recognized for being good school community citizens. This month 4 of our Firsties were recognized! Congratulations Nick, Aiden, Nolan and Madison (we're sorry you were absent)!
Some of our Firsties worked with Ms. Cushman and some 5th graders to perform a Friendship skit at today's Community Meeting. They did a great job! Check it out!
Read to self time transformed into read with your Big Pal today! Big Pals and Little Pals were equally excited to get to spend some time together this morning. We can't wait to plan our next get together!
Writer's Island received some exciting new items today. Note cards, envelopes and colored pens were welcome additions to this already popular island. Thank you so much! These kids are so excited about writing!
Today representatives from Union Bank came and talked to students about their savings program called Save for Success. Students talked about things they may want to save up for now, and in the future. Every Wednesday morning before school starts, a representative is in the lobby to help kids make deposits into their free savings accounts. Today students learned that they don't need to have a lot of money to make a deposit - you can deposit as little as a penny. Union Bank will even give you your first dollar when you open a savings account with them! For more information or to sign up please check out the packet that came home in your child's folder today.
