Yesterday we tossed around our spider silk (yarn) and shared our spider learning with our classmates by telling them one cool new thing we learned about spiders. When we were finished sharing our learning we had created our own amazing web! Be sure to ask your Kinder what they've learned about spiders so far. They're pretty amazing creatures.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is "wear your favorite color" day. Our Community Meeting will take place at 1:55 in the Cafeteria. See you there! This week we started exploring the amazing world of spiders! We read a non fiction magazine about spiders, took a survey to see how many of us were afraid of spiders, read a book about spiders, and then today we conducted an experiment to see why spiders don't stick to their own webs. Ask your Kinder Scientist what they learned!
There will be a pep rally on Monday, October 24th at 1:45 in the gym - all are welcome to attend! Please join us and show your Danville spirit by wearing green & white! On Monday, October 31st (Halloween) our class will participate in a Literacy Parade! The parade will take place here at school. We will first parade through the school to show our fellow students and teachers what we're up to in Literacy and then we will venture out to the playground where families will be waiting. We will make our costumes here at school, so we've got that covered, but we are asking for your help in putting together a special snack for everyone to enjoy after the parade. Please click the link below to sign up if you are able to help with set up, clean up, or a snack donation. We're looking forward to sharing our love of literacy with you all!
We've kicked off our year long study of weather by learning about the seasons. This afternoon we went on a nature walk to see the signs of Fall all around us. (Okay, we also went to see the chickens too) Ask your Kinder what s/he saw on our walk today!
The Scholastic Book Fair is going on NOW in the Library! Come check out some great books at great prices. I'll be there tomorrow from 4-7pm. If that time doesn't work for you, our other volunteers would be happy to see you too! See below for the hours we're open.
You can schedule your parent conference for this Thursday by calling the main office to set up a time!
Our class was so lucky! Ms. Brehm (our art teacher) found this beautiful, golden colored chrysalis and brought it to us. We had no idea just what would emerge from it, if anything, but we observed it carefully and we were ecstatic when a rare butterfly (according to our research) broke free. On Friday afternoon we all went outside and released it to its natural habitat. It was such an incredible thing to watch and listen to the Kinders as they witnessed this butterfly take flight. (Of course our film cut out right before this happened!) Their wonder and excitement is so pure and beautiful and it gives me goose bumps on a daily basis.
