This time of year brings about one of my most favorite Kindergarten traditions - Gingy! One night between now and Christmas break, your Kinder will come home with Gingy (a stuffed gingerbread man), and a special paper for their homework assignment. Attached to the special paper is a letter (see below) explaining the assignment. Kinders absolutely LOVE this assignment because it is so much fun. The narrative they're writing should only be a sentence long, but help them focus on writing their letters correctly, writing letters for the sounds they hear (we aren't focusing on perfect spelling), and putting spaces between their words. Here's an example for you: "I pad lgo w Gingy." (I played Legos with Gingy.) The most important part of this - HAVE FUN! (and don't forget to send him back the next day!)
